How to Get a Physiotherapist to Come to Your Home
No clinic visits needed. Here is how to book mobile physiotherapy in Sydney in 3 simple steps.
Call Us or Send an Enquiry
The quickest way to get started is to call us on 0431 092 829. You can also use our contact form if you prefer to send a written enquiry.
When you get in touch, tell us about your situation: what you need help with, where you are located, and any funding you may have in place. This helps us work out the best approach for you.
We can usually tell you over the phone whether your physiotherapy can be funded through Support at Home, DVA, Medicare or another pathway. If you are not sure what funding you have, we can help you work that out too.
There is no obligation. We are happy to answer your questions before you commit to anything.
We Arrange Your First Appointment
Once we understand your needs, we find a time that suits your routine. We work around your schedule, not the other way around.
Your first appointment is longer than follow-up sessions to allow for a thorough assessment. This gives your physiotherapist time to understand your medical history, assess your current condition, and discuss your goals.
We bring all necessary equipment to your home - you do not need to prepare anything special. Just be in comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
If you have a referral from your GP or care coordinator, have it ready for the first visit. However, a referral is not required for private or self-funded appointments.
Your Physiotherapist Comes to You
An AHPRA registered physiotherapist arrives at your home at the scheduled time. No travel, no waiting rooms, no parking.
Your first visit typically includes:
- A review of your medical history and current concerns
- A physical assessment of your strength, mobility and balance
- Goal setting - what you want to achieve from your treatment
- Initial treatment to begin addressing your needs straight away
- A personalised exercise program you can follow between sessions
Follow-up sessions are tailored to your specific needs and goals. Your physiotherapist adjusts your treatment plan as you progress, so your care evolves with you.
Sessions are typically 30 to 60 minutes depending on your treatment plan and the type of physiotherapy you are receiving.

What If I Need Funding?
You do not have to pay out of pocket for home visit physiotherapy if you have eligible funding. Here is a quick overview of the main pathways:
Support at Home (formerly Home Care Packages)
Physiotherapy is fully funded under the Clinical Care category with no client contribution. Your care coordinator arranges the referral and the government pays the provider directly.
Medicare
With a GP referral under a Chronic Disease Management plan, you may be eligible for up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year. A Medicare rebate applies to each session.
DVA, private health insurance and self-funded
DVA Gold and White card holders can access fully funded physiotherapy with a GP referral. Private health insurance extras cover may provide rebates. Self-funded clients are also welcome at competitive rates.
Not sure what funding you have? Call us on 0431 092 829 and we can help you work it out. We deal with funding questions every day and can usually point you in the right direction within a few minutes.
Mobile Physiotherapy for Older Adults at Home in Sydney
A mobile physiotherapist travels to your home, so older adults can receive care without arranging transport or sitting in a waiting room. This suits people living with reduced mobility, balance changes, recent falls, joint or muscle pain, or those recovering after a hospital stay or surgery. An AHPRA-registered physiotherapist assesses how you move within your own environment, then works through exercises, walking practice and everyday tasks. Seeing your actual home means advice can reflect your stairs, hallways, bathroom and furniture, so exercises and safety suggestions fit the spaces you use every day.
Home visits across Sydney typically begin with a discussion of your history, goals and any medical conditions, followed by a physical assessment of strength, balance and walking. From there, the physiotherapist builds a plan you can continue between visits, which may include a tailored exercise program, mobility aids advice, and guidance for family members or carers. Sessions can be arranged for individuals living independently, in retirement villages, or supported by family. If you are registered under My Aged Care, home visits may form part of a funded plan, and we can talk through how that works.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to get a physiotherapist at home?
No referral is needed for private or self-funded appointments. However, if you want to access funding through Support at Home, DVA, or Medicare, a referral from your GP or care coordinator is required. We can guide you through the process.
How far in advance do I need to book?
We can usually accommodate bookings within a few days. For urgent needs, same-week appointments are often available. Call us on 0431 092 829 to check availability.
What areas in Sydney do you cover for home visits?
We cover North-West Sydney to the Inner West, including The Hills Shire, Parramatta, Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai, North Sydney, Lane Cove, Willoughby, Mosman, Ryde, Inner West, and Sydney CBD.
How much does a mobile physiotherapy home visit cost?
The cost of a home visit depends on a few factors, including the length of the session, your location within Sydney and the travel involved, the type of care you need, and whether you are using funding such as My Aged Care. Because each situation is different, we provide a tailored quote rather than a single set figure. Contact us with a little detail about your needs and where you live, and we can give you a clear, no-obligation quote before you book, so you know what to expect.
Do I need a referral to arrange a home visit for an elderly family member?
You do not need a GP referral to book a private home physiotherapy visit; you can contact us directly to arrange an appointment. A referral may be needed in certain situations, such as some funded or insurance-based pathways, or where a doctor is coordinating care as part of a broader plan. If you are unsure, let us know the situation and we can explain what is required. Having any relevant medical information, medication lists or recent reports available can help your AHPRA-registered physiotherapist plan the assessment.
